Private Pole Dancing Lessons

By Susan Peach

Private pole dancing lessons can be a great option for some people, particularly those with unpredictable schedules that make it hard to attend group classes on the same day each week.

And if if you're shy or uncomfortable in groups, a private pole dancing class or two might just be the perfect solution for you.

In fact, many people who feel a bit shy to get started with pole dancing find that a few private lessons are a nice bridge into group classes, once they've gained some confidence and experience.

On the other hand, shyness isn't necessarily a factor for everyone who's considering private lessons.

Some students simply want the highest quality learning experience, and of course with private lessons you'll have the instructor's full attention.

Here are some other benefits of private pole dancing lessons that might make them an appealing choice for you...

Benefits of Private Pole Dancing Lessons

  • with private lessons you can schedule your sessions at a time that's convenient for you
  • private pole dancing lessons allow you to can catch up on missed material from your regular group class session so you don't fall behind
  • a private session or two can help you get "un-stuck" if you're having trouble with a particular move or trick
  • you get a custom designed session that addresses your specific needs and goals, such as help with creating a choreography, preparing to come back from an injury, etc.
  • you can often cover several weeks' worth of material in a one hour private pole dance lesson, which is great for those who want to make a lot of progress in a short period of time.

Are there disadvantages to private pole dancing lessons?

Well, cost is certainly one factor. One-on-one time with an instructor is always more expensive than shared time in a group setting. Whether you consider the higher cost of private lessons a disadavantage depends on your priorities.

If your top priority is to progress quickly, or master a particular trick, then the extra cost may well be worth it to you. But if you're brand new to pole and not even sure if you'll like it, it may not make sense to start out with more costly private sessions.

However, remember that you'll also be able to cover a LOT more in a one hour private lesson than you would in a group class, which usually makes private classes very worthwhile.

The other major disadvantage with private lessons is that you won't have the support and feedback of your classmates who are sharing your pole dancing journey. Now if you're the super shy type you may be asking yourself how this could possibly be a disadvantage!

You may have to trust Your Pole Pal on this one, but until you've experienced it, it's hard to imagine what a room full of people cheering, clapping and shouting encouragement can do for you the first time you pull off a pole trick that you never thought you'd be able to do.

Imagine the feeling of knowing that everyone in the class believes in you, is rooting for you, and is ready to celebrate with you when you finally do it. There's nothing like a group pole dancing class to generate that kind of energy!

Nevertheless, if you're nervous, shy, lack confidence, or are worried about whether you're fit enough to join a group class, private pole dance lessons may well be the way to go, at least for now.
